Young Leaders are from Key Stage 2. After receiving training from their School Play Leader and SSCo, their role is to run fun, safe activities in the playground for younger children.
The leaders learn key skills such as commiuncation, organisation, cooperation and safety. They are also introduced to the STEP principle (space, task, equipment, people).
The photo above is of a Young Leader at Downshall Primary School. Downshall have 20 young leaders each year, who rotate on different days. The young leaders run activities for the younger children and the school Play Leader organises large scale games for everyone else. There is definitely something for everyone in this very active playground!
