The Leadership Academy is the third stage of our Leadership Pathway. Students from all years in the secondary schools apply to take part in the coveted Leadership Academy. Each Academy takes 15-20 students per term. For two hours afterschool each week, students will learn advanced leadership skills whilst gaining immediate practical experience, through running an after-school multiskills club for children aged 5-9.
The Leadership Academies have been phased into our schools since September 2008, and from Summer 2010 we will have all 8 secondary schools offering the Academies to their students. In addition, Little Heath, one of the special schools runs a modified version of the Leadership Academy. Our SSP has been recognised by the Youth Sport Trust for the work we are doing with young disabled people and we are the hub partnership for the East of England to advocate "how to include young disabled people in sports leadership".
The photo above shows a Leadership Academy graduate at one of our Leadership Conferences. At this conference, all students gained their Level 1 Award in Sportshall Athletics, as a bolt on to their Leadership Academy.
